GEO Blue Planet will work to provide connections between scientists and decision makers in support of the Galway and Belém statements.
GEO Blue Planet’s international and flexible network provides an avenue for developing and supporting science-policy cooperation across the Atlantic.
GEO Blue Planet is the ocean and coastal arm of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), an intergovernmental partnership of 100+ national governments and 100+ participating organizations working together to support the international community with Earth observation data and tools. GEO Blue Planet pledges to support connections across the Atlantic by promoting and supporting real-life applications of observational data and working with our network on the co-development of decision support tools.
GEO Blue Planet will work to support the co-development of decision support tools related to GEO’s priorities areas of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the Paris Climate Agreement. Thematic areas of focus over the next three years will include Sargassum, eutrophication, marine litter and fisheries.
