Atlantis aims to build a world in which youngsters experience the sea, know it and are more aware of our interdependence, becoming ocean guardians.
The Atlantis Program is creating opportunities for students to get in contact with the ocean to raise their awareness about environmental issues and to connect them with the aquatic world. It is constituted by 3 main pillars: Freediving, Oasis Game (social and collaborative game ) and Deep Ecology practices. Under implementation since 2021 in a public school in Sesimbra, Portugal. Goes beyond the school environment, involving the whole local community.
Youth initiation to the aquatic world through 4 Freediving sessions
Collaborative project by students and wider public through 5 Oasis Game sessions, Ocean Talks – organization of stakeholders events about ocean activism, EcoAction – beach cleanup involving the community to raise awareness about marine litter, Visits to local seagrass meadows to show the value of this ecosystem for the ocean and climate. Workshop about the potential of algae to nutrition and health, Outdoor Photography Exhibition
